Driving licence register: which procedure records matter focuses on linking a register reference to a specific document. It organises the statutory record position and does not replace review of the actual file.

Keep decisions, applications, service records and authority information together. A single register or travel document does not create a wider entitlement.

Legal basis: section 16 FSG in RIS.

The register’s function

Section 16 FSG provides for the register for procedures and official acts under the Driving Licence Act. It records an administrative process, not automatically the complete reasons.

Establish whether an entry concerns an application, examination, measure or later change.

An entry is not a decision

A register extract alone does not show whether a decision is lawful. The operative part, reasons, service and remedy notice require separate review.

Use the entry as a starting point for file organisation.

Match data to documents

For each entry note date, authority, file reference and supporting record. Record discrepancies rather than correcting them yourself.

Transitions between application, assessment, decision and later return matter.

Record changes

Record when a change was made and which document refers to it. Supplement oral information with written confirmation.

This shows whether the current position comes from a new decision or data change.

Prepare the review

Secure the complete decision, service record, applications and register information.

The file inspection article helps combine authority and personal records.

Document review

Which record answers which question?

Read status, legal basis and proof separately.

Review records and dates separately
Document position Legal question Do not assume
Register entry Which official act was recorded? That the entry replaces the complete decision
Date or change What caused the change? That oral information is sufficient
Register and decision differ Which version is current? That the discrepancy is resolved itself

The complete file and current authority position remain decisive.

File check

Are the relevant records and dates documented together?
