Changing a glasses restriction after eye surgery

Section 2(3) FSG-DV defines code 01 as correction of vision or eye protection. Its subcodes distinguish glasses, contact lenses, glasses or contact lenses and a specific optical aid. It is therefore not enough to look only at the number 01; the subcode and the affected class also matter.

Read the front and back of the licence in full. If a time limit, periodic examination or another condition is also recorded, include it in the review. The medical assessment focus area explains the medical basis separately from the replacement of the licence card.

The operation is an important part of the medical history, but it does not alone answer whether the requirements for driving the relevant class are met. The authority needs a current and traceable report in the form required for the application.

Keep the operation report, current ophthalmological report and any information about visual acuity, visual field, stability of the result and necessary follow-up examinations. An amendment may need to be assessed differently for different classes. Higher classes have their own medical requirements. The report should therefore show which classes and which specific question it covers.

Under section 13(5) FSG, a licence must be surrendered for replacement where a later time limit, restriction or condition has been entered. For further additions, the authority arranges a new licence on application and with the required documents. Section 13(6) FSG provides for a new licence when an entry must be changed.
